Visit to the University of Texas in San Antonio and attendance to the Workshop NSF AI Spring School

Dr. Lisa Montoya, Vice Provost of Global Initiatives and Senior International Officer of UTSA, Luis Arturo Méndez Alba, Dean of the School of Architecture at UP, Dr. Eric Brey, Dean of the College of Engineering at UTSA, and Dr. Saadet Beeson, Director of the School of Architecture at UTSA.

On February 17 to 19, 2025, Mr. Luis Arturo Méndez Alba, dean of the School of Architecture of the Universidad Panamericana, Aguascalientes campus, visited the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) with the objective of establishing academic and research collaboration agreements between both institutions.

During his stay, Mr. Méndez Alba held key meetings with prominent UTSA authorities, including Dr. Lisa Montoya, Vice Provost of Global Initiatives and Senior International Officer, Dr. Eric Brey, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Dr. Saadet Beeson, Director of the School of Architecture. In these meetings, various collaboration opportunities were explored, including exchange programs for students, development of joint projects, mobility of professors and researchers, as well as mutual visits between both universities to strengthen academic ties and promote the internationalization of knowledge.

Additionally, Mr. Méndez Alba participated in the NSF Spring School, a specialized program organized by the MATRIX Artificial Intelligence consortium. This consortium is based in the Artificial Intelligence department of UTSA and represents a key space for the research and development of new technologies applied to various disciplines, including architecture and engineering. Participation in this event allowed Mr. Méndez Alba learn first-hand about the most recent innovations in the field of artificial intelligence and explore possibilities for integrating these technologies in academic training and in the professional practice of architecture.

The visit of Mr. Méndez Alba to UTSA marked a significant step in strengthening the international collaboration of the Universidad Panamericana, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and innovation in the field of architecture and engineering. It is expected that the agreements discussed during this visit will translate into concrete initiatives for the benefit of students, professors and researchers of both institutions.

With Ricardo Espinoza, AI researcher and Director of the AI Engineering Program at the Engineering Faculty at Universidad Panamericana in Aguascalientes.
