Gyeongbokgung Imperial Palace

It was the main palace during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897). It is one of the five palaces in Seoul and has 600 years of history.

The founder of the Joseon Dynasty, Lee Seong-Gye, built it in 1395, when he moved the capital of the Goryeo era to Seoul.

The palace today is open to the public under the Korea Cultural Heritage Administration; it is in an excellent state of preservation.

On a visit to the place, it is possible to appreciate how the monarchs of the time lived. The emperor's throne is visible to visitors from its entrance, although its access is limited.
