ARQUITÓPICOS V
The School of Architecture of the Universidad Panamericana held the fifth edition of its traditional Arquitopics event, which every end of the semester brings together personalities from the field of architecture and art to share their professional experience with students and academics of the school.
On this occasion it was up to the artist Carlos Andrés Ornelas Rocha and the prestigious Architect Arturo Revilla Guerra to present topics related to the practice of excellence in architecture.
The sculptor, painter and musician Carlos Andrés Ornelas Rocha presented the topic The Art of Ornamentation in Architecture, through which he presented to the students how the arts of sculpture and architecture merge in various constructions since the dawn of the humanity, and how, considering minimalist trends, it is having an important resurgence thanks to technology.
The keynote speaker, Architect Arturo Revilla Guerra, shared with the students a brief history of his professional career designing and constructing various buildings such as residential homes, convention centers and office buildings. A project in which the architect placed special emphasis was the regulatory plan of the San Marcos Fair carried out during the administration of Governor Luis Armando Reynoso. This challenging project consisted of studying the nature of the fair and analyzing the different activities it hosts, as well as reviewing in detail the flow of people and their needs in all aspects. The result of the project was its expansion towards San Marcos Island, the creation of the Mega Tent and sending the cultural activities to the Tres Centurias Complex.
Finally, Architect Revilla presented his great project for the Plaza de la Soberana Convention, known as the Patio of the Jacarandas, with which he demonstrated that with good architecture it is possible to improve social life in the center of the city.
The event captured the total interest of the student community and Architect Revilla decided to make a second presentation for the following semester and thus be able to comment on the rest of his works, among which there are some of high impact for the city of Aguascalientes.
