October 27–30, 2025.
The School of Architecture at Universidad Panamericana, Campus Aguascalientes, successfully held Arquitópicos IX from October 27 to 30, 2025. This ninth edition of the workshop centered on Urbanism as its main theme and brought together students, faculty, and international scholars for an intensive academic and design experience.
A highlight of this year’s event was the participation of Dr. Anna Martyka from the Rzeszów University of Technology (RUT), Poland, who served as the principal lecturer. Her visit took place within the framework of the Erasmus+ exchange program established between Universidad Panamericana (UP) and RUT, strengthening international collaboration in architectural and urban studies.
Dr. Martyka, whose research focuses on urban morphology, heritage conservation, spatial structure modeling, and planning tools, delivered a series of lectures and guided workshop sessions. Her academic contributions emphasized the integration of historic and contemporary urban forms, as well as the use of graphic and diagrammatic models as instruments for territorial policy and urban intervention. Her expertise provided participants with a rigorous analytical framework for understanding urban structure and transformation processes.
The core of Arquitópicos IX was a comparative workshop examining the relationship between the urbanism of a European city and the Mexican neighborhood Barrio de la Salud. Throughout the four-day program, students engaged in site analysis, morphological studies, and strategic design development. Working in collaborative teams, they produced placemaking proposals aimed at strengthening the urban and social fabric of Barrio de la Salud, addressing issues of public space activation, cultural identity, connectivity, and sustainable development.
The event also featured the participation of two distinguished academics:
Dr. Ezequiel Colmenero Acevedo, an expert in Urbanism, who contributed critical insights into urban theory and planning methodologies; and
Dr. Raúl Alberto Dávila, a researcher specializing in Barrio de la Salud, who provided historical and socio-territorial context essential for grounded and responsible intervention strategies.
A total of 106 Architecture students took part in the workshop, presenting innovative and research-based urban proposals at the conclusion of the event. Their projects demonstrated a comprehensive integration of cultural heritage, social interaction, environmental responsibility, and spatial coherence, reflecting both local sensitivity and global perspectives.
With the successful completion of Arquitópicos IX, the School of Architecture reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, international exchange, and the transformation of local urban realities through knowledge production, creativity, and meaningful community engagement.
