During their stay, the visiting authorities took part in the Paradigma Congress, an event organized by students of the Universidad del Istmo, which brought together guest architects from Mexico, Spain, and Ecuador, fostering a space for reflection, exchange of ideas, and dialogue on the practice and teaching of architecture in different Latin American contexts.
As part of the program, the visitors toured the ancient Maya city of Tikal, an experience that allowed for direct engagement with Guatemala’s historical and architectural heritage, enriching the academic and cultural perspective of the visit.
One of the central focuses of the meeting was the development of discussions with the directors of the School of Architecture at the Universidad del Istmo, with the aim of advancing a dual degree agreement between the two institutions. This project opens the possibility of student exchanges, through which students from both universities may complete one-year academic stays in the corresponding foreign country and obtain a dual degree, strengthening their academic, professional, and multicultural education.
The visit represents a significant step toward international collaboration and reaffirms the commitment of both schools to a globally oriented architectural education.
